L&T Plans with SEAK – Time Management, Workforce Scheduling, and MSP

The Challenge

Shifting Consumer Behavior and Untapped Employee Engagement

L&T faced two distinct challenges: consumer behavior had shifted, and workforce deployment needed to be more closely aligned with planned revenue targets. At the same time, the company wanted to give employees greater input and autonomy over time management and shift planning — fully in line with its own corporate philosophy of "empowered employees, not passive bystanders."

Three specific pain points were holding them back:

Unclear alignment with planned revenue targets

Shifting consumer behavior demanded a staffing approach more closely aligned with planned revenue targets.

Low employee input

Time management and workforce scheduling processes left employees with little room for meaningful input.

Trust Could Be Stronger

Visibility into time and effort was limited — and so was the trust you'd expect from a modern employer-employee relationship.

"Before using this software, we scheduled shifts around individual employees. Now we plan around the shift itself — a specific time slot with defined revenue targets — and staff it accordingly. Our workforce planning has become far more demand-driven. Projected revenue is now the key metric."

The Decision: Three Systems Compared, One Reference Customer Convinced

L&T evaluated three systems before making its decision. The decisive factor was a recommendation from a SEAK reference customer who was personally known to the company.

The Implementation: Three Hierarchy Levels, One Platform

Today, L&T uses SEAK across three levels of the organization: HR leadership, three HR business partners, and multiple team managers. Within the monthly planning cycle, the system automatically generates staffing suggestions — taking into account qualifications, job functions, contracted hours, and individual employee preferences. Adjustments are quick and straightforward. Complementing this is the web-based Employee Self-Service Portal, which empowers staff to manage their own requests directly: submitting vacation requests, correcting time entries, and checking balances and leave entitlements — all from any device, including smartphones.

What the software actually covers

Annual Rough Planning with Merchandise Management

Forecast staffing hours and headcount requirements across the year — informed by inventory data, seasonal trends, and promotional activity.

Automatic Shift Suggestions

Per day, per department — scaled to your needs and adjustable at any time.

Qualifications & Features

Required qualifications and employee roles are automatically factored into every scheduling decision.

Contract & Preferences

Contractually agreed hours and employee preferences are built into the scheduling process.

Equity Analyses

Equity analyses made simple — the software makes workload imbalances visible.

Employee Service Portal

Requests, corrections, balance checks, and vacation queries — online, mobile, and with a built-in approval workflow.

Three Levels of Hierarchy

HR directors, HR business partners, and team leads all work within a single platform — with clearly defined roles and permissions.

Planned Revenue as Demand Driver

Instead of finding a shift for every employee, the right number of staff is determined for each shift based on expected revenue.

"The MSP is a tool for employee self-organization and fits perfectly with our company philosophy. The trust our employees have shown has grown noticeably. They feel valued and heard, because they can easily make their own preferences known."

The Result: What Has Changed Since Then
